RedleX grants you personal, non-transferable and non-exclusive license to use Mellel, being a RU and as long as you comply with the terms of this contract. As a RU you own the physical media on which Mellel is distributed, provided that this physical media was legally acquired from RedleX or one of its authorised distributors. Otherwise (i.e., if the Mellel DMG is distributed by a third party, such as a magazine’s CD-ROM) your ownership rights are as determined in the terms set by that third party. All other rights not expressly granted to you under this contract, remain with RedleX.

Mellel may be installed on any number of computers, but those copies may not be used concurrently, just like a book. The term “just like a book” means that Mellel can be used by any number of people and may be freely moved or copied from one computer location to another, so long as there is no possibility of it being used at one location while another copy is being used at the same time in another location. Just as the same copy of a book cannot be read by two different people in two different places at the same time, neither can the same copy of Mellel be used by two different people in two different places at the same time. For example, you may install a copy of Mellel on your desktop computer and on your portable computer and use either of those, not concurrently. For multiple user licenses please visit RedleX at:

You may freely copy, reproduce or distribute copies of Mellel provided that:

1 Any copy you make of Mellel will be of Mellel’s DMG file in its entirety.

2 No additional fee will be charged for including a copy of Mellel’s DMG file in your distribution.

3 You acknowledge that the inclusion of such a copy does not in any way invalidate or diminish RedleX rights over Mellel.

If you have purchased a network or site license to Mellel in your place of work, you are allowed to copy Mellel and use it with your home computer(s) too provided that:

1 No single license is used concurrently (at the same time) by more than one person.

2 The network or site license is personalised (i.e., every copy of Mellel have a unique license).

You can use Mellel in conjunction or merged with any other programme, but Mellel will still remain the property of RedleX and subject to the terms and conditions of this contract, including any copyright notice by RedleX on any portion of Mellel merged in or used in conjunction with another programme.

You may transfer or sell your License as a RU provided that you will cease to use this license on any of your computers, present or future. You may continue to use Mellel as an unlicensed (“Demo”) product. Failing to comply with this term your license to use Mellel will be considered automatically terminated.

You are not allowed to transfer or sell your License if:

1 You’ve received a License under NFR conditions (e.g., for review in a magazine, a courtesy copy, a special test copy, etc.).

2 You’ve legally acquired a License to use Mellel without paying for it.

You may use your license for Mellel for any period of time. You are granted the right to download or by any other legal means acquire an updated copy of Mellel and install it on your computer, provided that:

1 You acknowledge that RedleX has the right to set and change the Update Period for your license at the time of the purchase.

2 The Update Period may not be revoked or changed after the time you have legally acquired your License.

3 You acknowledge that after the expire of the Update Period set by RedleX at the time you have legally acquired your License you will no longer be allowed to freely update your copy of Mellel.

4 Mellel may revoke your license at any time for whatever reason if you breach any term or condition stated in this contract.

5 You acknowledge that termination of your License by RedleX for whatever reason do not entitle you to a refund or any other compensation from RedleX.

6 You acknowledge that if you are one of those mentioned and not allowed to transfer or sell a copy of Mellel you also have no right for any update of Mellel.

RedleX warrants only that the medium on which Mellel is furnished will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and conditions for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of purchase, as evidenced by a copy of your receipt. No distributor, dealer or any other entity or person is authorised to expand or alter either this warranty or this Contract. Any such representations will not bind RedleX.

Mellel is a “word processing” programme. That is, it is meant to be used to type text, display it in a window on your screen, allow you to change the appearance of the text and, provided you have the means to do it, allow you to output the text you’ve typed and changed to an output devise (such as a printer or a PDF file). Mellel is a complex programme, composed of thousands of interoperating components and tens of thousands lines of hand-written programming code. As such, it cannot and will not be free of errors that may interrupt its working even under reasonable usage conditions.

RedleX warrants that Mellel will function as a “word processing” programme at a reasonable level of reliability. RedleX does not warrant that the functions contained in Mellel will meet all your requirements or that the operation of Mellel will be uninterrupted or error-free. Except as stated above, Mellel and its documentation are provided as-is without warranty of any kind either expressed or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchant-ability and fitness for a particular purpose. You assume entire risk as it applies to the quality and performance of Mellel. Should Mellel prove defective you (and not RedleX, authorised RedleX Distributor or dealer) assume the entire cost of all necessary servicing repair or correction.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. Some states do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so the above exclusion may not apply to you.

You are entitled for a refund for the money you’ve paid to purchase Mellel if you’ve requested such a refund within 90 (ninety) days from the date of purchase. RedleX’s entire liability and remedy in the case you’ve purchased Mellel on a Physical Media will be:

1 The replacement of any medium not meeting RedleX’s ‘Limited Warranty’ explained above and which is returned to RedleX or an authorised RedleX distributor or dealer with a copy of your receipt; or

2 If RedleX is unable to deliver a replacement medium which conforms to the warranty provided under this Contract, you may terminate this Contract by returning Mellel and Documentation to RedleX, authorised RedleX Distributor, or dealer from whom you obtained Mellel and your license fee will be refunded.

If you have purchased Mellel on a Physical Media: If you must ship Mellel to an authorised RedleX Distributor, dealer or to RedleX, you must prepay shipping and either insure Mellel or assume all risk of loss or damage in transit. To replace a defective medium during the ninety (90) day warranty period, if you are returning the medium to RedleX, please send RedleX your name and address, the defective medium and a copy of your receipt at the address provided below.

In no event will RedleX be liable to you for any damages, direct, indirect, incidental or consequential, including damages for any lost profits, lost savings or other incidental or consequential damages arising out of the use or inability to use Mellel, even if RedleX has been advised of the possibility of such damages or for any claim by any other party. Some states do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. In no event will RedleX liability for damages to you or any other person ever exceed the amount of the license fee paid by you to use Mellel regardless of the form of the claim.
