Mellel 1.4 word-processor introduces a revolutionary note tool (footnote, endnote) easily surpassing equivalent features in other Mac word-processors on the Mac or the PC

RedleX, have released Mellel 1.4, a new version of its advanced word-processor. The new version of the innovative word-processor includes a built-in note (footnotes\endnotes) that outshines even designated notes applications, a new iTunes-like graphic user-interface (with a twist), smart palettes, real-time word-count, greatly enhanced RTF import and export, and 20 other new features and enhancements.

Quick on the footsteps of Mellel 1.3.2 (released October 29) RedleX introduces yet another stream of innovations in word-processing. Mellel 1.4 supplies yet another proof that word-processing can evolve, that an old dog (word-processing) can learn a few new tricks... and that new features doesn't necessarily mean more clutter and hampering ease of us.

New features in Mellel 1.4

The new features in Mellel are in line with RedleX mission to innovate but still keep things simple:

• Note Tool: introduces a totally new concept of "stream" (chain) of notes. In contrast with other word-processor, that allow only footnotes and\or endnotes, the note tool in Mellel allow you to create an unlimited number of note sequences anywhere in the document. This option is especially useful for scholars and professional writers who need to create and maintain separate notes chains for author, translator, comments, drafts, etc.
• Note Styles: this feature allow you to create note styles and apply them to streams. With styles (and even without them) You can control every imaginable aspects of notes: style of note reference in the text, in the notes, style of the notes themselves, separators, symbols, etc.
• New Graphic User Interface: Designed by a GUI designer Guy Hivroni Mellel now enjoys a beautiful graphic user-interface. The new GUI is not just easy on the eyes but also easier to use, taking the iTunes-like look a bit further than previously thought.
• Smart Palettes: the new smart palettes in Mellel can be shrunk and expended, to easily fit even inside an 600x800 screen, while dynamically changing their content to always offer the most useful options in logical order. The smart palettes also "chase" and stick to the relevant style edit dialogues when they are opened.
• Real-Time Word Count: a new statistics palette offers "live" character, word, line and paragraph count, with additional selected character, word and paragraph count.
• RTF Export and Import Enhancement: Mellel now supports all RTF options supported in Mac OS X including paragraph alignment, margins and indent, tabs, line spacing, colour, underline, font, font face, font size, and more.
• German Version: a first localized version of Mellel in German, thanks to the wonderful help from Johannes Hoffman. Versions in French and Spanish are shortly to follow.
• And Much More: including intelligent cut and paste, drag and drop, improved find and replace, navigation buttons, export enhancements, bidirectionality improvements additional numbering schemes and dozens of minor enhancements and bug fixes.
