Mellel comes in three basic flavours:
- Regular License.
- Regular License: Identical to a Regular license, for students, scholars, researchers, teachers, etc.
- Upgrade: for users who already have a license for Mellel.
Each license entitles you to two years of free updates from the date of purchase. That is, if you’ve purchased a license (or an upgrade) for Mellel on December 31, 2018, you’ll be eligible to update for free to any new version released up to December 31, 2020.
What happens when your two years of free updates expire? Basically, nothing. Licenses for Mellel never expire, so you may continue to use your current version forever. However, you will not be able to update it free of charge anymore. For example, if you have purchased a license for Mellel on December 31, 2018, you will not be able to update for free for a Mellel version released, say, on March 1, 2021.
If you already have a license, purchasing an upgrade. It will allow you to extend your free updates period by two additional years. To save you some money, we recommend you to purchase an upgrade when a new version is released.
How can I tell if I’m eligible for a free update? Choose Mellel (menu) > Check for updates… to check if there is an update. If there is one, Mellel will inform you clearly if you can update to this version for free.
