What’s with the new version? Lot’s of bug fixes, but first and perhaps foremost, some nice mini-updates:

  • Recent fonts displayed in the Font menu (Character palette). From now on, you’ll be able to easily access recent fonts.
  • Footnotes and Endnotes: Added format + Space to note symbol formats selection. A much requested new feature, allowing you to set note number and Space following it.
  • RTF Export: Added an option to control the resolution of converted vector images when exporting to RTF. This solves a problem with exporting vector images, as those are not supported correctly in RTF.
  • Auto-title improvement: Structure levels without a name (empty) are not displayed in the Insert Auto-title menu or the Auto-title palette. This makes Auto-titles easier to use, without yawning gaps between structure levels and tag levels.
  • Auto-title improvement: Icons for structure and tag levels, separator between structure and tag levels, and tag levels names displayed in blue – all in the Auto-title palette. And this just make things look nicer.
  • Sign up dialogue (App store users).
  • And, well, lots of bug fixes…

…And by the way, I would post a very positive comment on the MacApp store, but I purchased Mellel through RedleX, not Apple, and cannot leave a comment.

I love Mellel. Keep up the fantastic work. The fact that you guys upgrade all of the time is a wonderful feature that I enjoy every single time I open the application, and check for updates on a whim. Thank you for the constant improvements.

If I may request a feature, I also would vote for an index feature that would make compiling indexes easier for a long, academic document.

    Thank you.

    Hello there,
    Dear SIR, Madam,
I can’t find how to add photos for my documents!
Will please add that on the Mellel program , so I could early use it direct from my computer photos, to IPHOTO
    Thanks in advance

Hey, the save as “word” or save as “rtf” is not working since last update. Please solve this ASAP, this function is CRITICAL to the workflow…

Another thing, how about the index function? Since Mellel apparently is geared toward the academic public (like myself) this is a critical functionality,

What formats will it open and save in? The description is so scant and light. If it can open XXXXX files and save in XXXXX formats why not tell everybody?

I second that – index functionality is key for academic writing.

Second comment : it is impossible to save files as word file. It seems this function does not work anymore with this new version.

Thanks for the improvements. I am still though, like many, very interested in seeing Mellel with an index function. I am finishing to write my Ph.D thesis and will need to include an index at the end.
